Having learnt of the Svova family through a viral video of the Svova kids narrating their predicaments, in which one of the children mentioned how she wished Tete Tilder would get to hear of their plight, It compelled The Tilder Foundation Trust to look for the family.
We tracked the Svova family and found them. We discovered that their situation was so dire, the whole community knew about the family.
The Father Walking Out On His Family.
The Svova Family’s dire situation was triggered by the fact that the father walked out on his family, and went to settle with a mistress, leaving the family in poverty. In the video one could see the extend to which poverty had stricken the Svova Family. They were dressed in tattered clothes, and had a demeanor that clearly showed the extreme poverty they were under.
Our findings
Upon reaching out to the Svova Family, it was clear to us that we had to give them a helping hand. We were shocked to learn that their daughter used cow dung as sanitary pads. The whole household spelled hunger and poverty. It is hard enough to live in a pole and dagga house, but the Svova Family’s pole and dagga house was in an uninhabitable state. They had have to contend with spending nights, drenched in tattered blankets, during rainy seasons, due to a thatching leakage.
The Tilder Foundation Trust Campaign
As what we would normally do on such situations, we launched a campaign to mobilize resources to help the Svova Family out of their desperate situation.
We can gladly report that the campaign received a positive response from our loyal friends and partners. The Ongoing Campaign has yielded the following results,
School Fees Payment Commitments
Construction of a proper house
Food Stuffs Donations
Update (02/10/2021)
After having launched a successful campaign to aide Mai
Svova, Tilder Foundation Trust managed to mobilize resources to carry out the
following,
A new 3-bedroomed house
A thatched kitchen hut
Cleared the school fees arrears
We are currently in the process of drilling a borehole, as well as installing Solar-Powered electricity in the new house.
